The Original Comets consist of Marshall, Joey and Dick. The two baby Comets Dave and Jackson are a great addition to the band. They are going strong and if you would like to see them play you can see them in Branson, on one of the Concerts At Sea cruises or other places they may book. The Comets can truly be called the FIRST BAND of Rock 'N' Roll. They were the first group whose ensemble worked in arrangement and performance helped develop the nascent musical form for rock 'n' roll. stagecraft.The band was once called Bill Haley and The Comets and also known as The Saddlemen in 1949, The muscians in the band provided the musical foundation for singe Bill Haley.The band is best known for its many hits between 1954 - 1958 including the first-ever rock 'n' roll number one hit "Rock Around The Clock". Rock Around The Clock was a Top 20 hit in the UK six long months before it Charted in the US - reaching #17 in January 1955.By 1963 the band members had all departed and It became known as Bill Haley's touring group.The four surviving original members reunited in 1987. Three of the members are still performing today. |
